Appearance:
Harrison Wells is an even six feet tall and he uses every inch of that height to his advantage when he’s trying to scare someone off or convince someone to do something he needs them to do He looks extremely thin but he has a runners physique underneath his Steve Jobs style clothing. His eyes are a clear blue gray and he is both farsighted and near sighted so he very rarely takes his glasses off, but when he does it’s because he wants people to pay attention and listen to him. His hair is kept short, but he rarely keeps it neat tending to run his hands thought it as he works and set it sticking straight up. He looks tired all the time, because of stress and late nights in the lab and often has marks on his face from sleeping on his desk or computer keyboard.

Because Harrison is deeply focused on his work, he tends to dress simply. Black t-shirts, jeans and sneakers are his clothing of choice with a worn black hoodie to top it all off. He rarely deviates from this style, but when he does he’ll add a white dress shirt and a sport jacket, but no tie. He finds ties constricting and more like a collar then an accessory. The only thing he insists on wearing is the watch he designed that detects any metahumans in the area. He refuses to leave home without it.

History:
Dr. Harrison Wells is the founder and CEO of Star Labs located in the heart of Central City in a universe which will one day be known as Earth-2. A brilliant man, Wells is also arrogant and charming choosing to focus on his work rather than making friends. He is a widower with a college aged daughter named Jesse who he appears to have raised on his own since he rarely speaks of his wife or her death and Jesse appears to have vague memories of her.

In the early part of 2013, he finished his life’s work; a particle accelerator he claimed would revolutionize scientific research. The machine instead created a dark matter explosion that spread across the city, killing and injuring many people. Harrison refuses to admit to any culpability in the explosion for reasons he has yet to admit to and this has created tension between himself and the Earth-2 version of the Flash, a man known as Jay Garrick. Harrison used the aftermath of the explosion to create technology designed to keep the people of Central City safe.

In 2015, Central City began to be terrorized by a speedster dressed in black who went by the name Zoom as breeches in space and time began to open all over the city. Harrison worked with the Central City Police to try and trap him, but all efforts failed and Jay Garrick confronted Harrison in public blaming him for the explosion and for all of the damage to the city created by Zoom. This made Jesse aware of the situation. She confronted her father about the truth and he confirms he had a hand in events, but again will not go into details. She storms off and Harrison learns she was kidnapped by Zoom via news broadcast later that day. When he attempts to find the Flash to ask for help, he discovers Jay Garrick has vanished.

He tears the city apart trying to find her and confronts Zoom, who tells him he needs to go through the main breech in the basement of STAR Labs to another Earth where there is a Flash with speed that Zoom needs. If Harrison steals that Flash’s speed he will get his daughter back. Harrison refuses, but decides to go through the breech on his own in the hopes that Flash can offer him the help he needs to get his daughter back. Harrison is shocked to discover that on Earth-1, his doppelganger is a murderer who broke apart Team Flash and used their abilities to his own ends. It takes months before they even trust him and the fact that Jay Garrick has come before him doesn’t help as the two men clash over events that happened back on their own Earth.

It is finally revealed that Harrison’s daughter is a captive of Zoom and Team Flash agrees to help get her back even as Harrison is attacked by Zoom and given an ultimatum, steal Barry Allen’s speed or Jesse will die. Harrison agrees and begins to develop a piece of tech to do as Zoom asks, which succeeds. The guilt of his actions, however, weights heavily on Harrison and he confesses his misdeeds. He offers to return back to Earth-2 alone and face Zoom, but Barry forgives him for his actions and he and Cisco Ramon go with Harrison to Earth-2 to save Jesse. Using help from Barry’s doppelganger and others, they succeed at great cost, Jay Garrick is killed and the breech from Earth-2 to Earth-1 is closed behind the group as they reach Earth-1 trapping Harrison and Jesse on a world not their own.

Previous Game History, IF APPLICABLE: N/A

What makes this character AU:
Harrison Wells is from an alternate Earth where the Flash is a man known as Jay Garrick and not Barry Allen. Where his Earth-1 counterpart was murdered and had his life taken over by the time traveling Reverse Flash, Harrison is a widower with a college aged daughter Jesse whose version of S.T.A.R Labs is very successful and Harrison is a Steve Jobs style tech wizard.

Rips in the universe are a known reality of life for Harrison and his staff they have designed technology to help people identify and avoid metahumans and the breeches created by Barry Allen’s actions are well known to the point that anyone who comes thought is called a “breecher.”

Personality: Harrison is arrogant and he knows it. He finds technology easier to deal with rather than the people that he designs it for. He has no verbal filter what so ever, believing that if you can’t take the heat then you shouldn’t be anywhere near him. He’s a man who knows he’s a jerk and a few other choice words and doesn’t care if what he says hurts anyone. He also gets easily frustrated when he cannot figure out a problem and tends to snap at the nearest person rather than calm down and find another way to work out the problem. That is not to say Harrison doesn’t care about people, he cares very much.

He calls his daughter Jesse his joy and is deeply hurt when she calls him out for lying to her. He would do anything for his daughter even killing a metahuman to get what he needs to win her back from Zoom. His anger runs hot and fast and then burns out just as quickly when someone is willing to stand up to him. Harrison carries guilt with him like an old friend and often wears his emotions on his face when he knows he’s done something that has hurt someone else. For all his arrogance, Harrison is just as emotional intelligent as he is mentally intelligent. He knows how to read people and when to push for more information and when to back off. The only time he really gets into trouble is when he lets his own emotions run away with him and in that case he needs someone to calm him down and make sure he’s not flying off the handle. Harrison has a clear aversion to touch that manifests itself as flinching or outright asking for people not to touch him if they get too close. When asked why Harrison refused to say, so it is not clear if it is simply another of his quirk or if there is something more sinister behind it.

Special facts/special abilities about your character:
Harrison has a genius level intellect able to make technology out of scraps and bits of wire when trouble is bearing down on him. He is also able to adjust the designs of others despite coming from another Earth that vibrates on another wavelength from its counterpart Earth. He also has been to his Earth’s Atlantis several times and considers it more of a vacation spot then anything truly amazing.

What is arriving with your character? Harrison will be arriving with a small backpack filled with a tool kit, random bits of metal, wire and a small mobile lab. He will also have his wallet in his pocket and be wearing an all black outfit topped off with a worn black hoodie.

PART 3 - Writing Samples

1. First Person Writing Sample:

[The Farnsworth turns on to reveal a handsome, skinny man who manages to look both annoyed and curious all at the same time. He manages a smile for the camera and then speaks in a horse whisper.]

Good morning, my name is Harrison Wells and I am a new arrival in this fair city. I find myself at loose ends as I settle in. I was hoping that someone might have some lab space they would be willing to share with me. Also I am hearing something about purple goo.....I was hoping that collecting a sample of this substance would be possible. My universe would find something like that useful, but I need to test some of it before I can be sure it would work for my purposes.

[He makes a face as if someone off camera is reminding him of something he'd rather not say.]

Thank you for your consideration. There is that good enough Jesse?

2. Third Person Writing Sample:

Harrison Wells was about to die and all he could think about was the fact his underwear was riding up on him. Zoom really knew how to make his life miserable no matter what the situation. "Allen," he whispers trying to get Barry's attention. The young man looked at him and tried to shake his head. Harrison would have sighed if he wasn't being held like a rag doll, the Flash of Earth-1 was too idealistic for his own good sometimes.

He did his best to project an aura of calm and control. "Allen go leave me," he said firmly, "take care of my daughter, but just go." He knew as soon as the words left his mouth Barry wouldn't listen and he could see the young hero tensing as if he was thinking of a plan and getting ready to put it in motion. Without really meaning to Harrison started trying to figure out what the Flash was thinking and what he could do to be ready for whatever it was.

In four months he'd learned to trust Barry Allen and those around him. For such young souls they had decent instincts and he liked to think that while he had no connection to the Speed Force himself, that the Speed Force and the people who ran within it were looking out for him. He took a deep breath as lighting sparked in Barry Allen's eyes and got ready for whatever was coming next. He didn't know what it was, but he had a feeling it was going to be fast, hard and he might get hurt. But he trusted Barry Allen and he really wanted to fix his underwear as soon as this nonsense was all over.

3. First or Third person Sample:

Harrison sat at his desk ever present frown in place. His Farnsworth sat in front of him as if taunting him with its secrets. He picked up the device and turned it over and over in his hands. It looked like a cross between a 1950’s TV and an ancient computer. “Alright,” he muttered, “let’s see what you are all about.” He picks up a small screwdriver and starts working his slender fingers working with the speed of the Flash.

Hours later he had the Farnsworth in pieces spread all over the desk and the frown had been replaced with a slight smile of delight. The workmanship on this thing was amazing and Harrison Wells was itching to pick the brain of the person who created it. Each bit of wire and metal had a purpose and one could not work without the other. “This shouldn’t work,” he said allowed not caring if anyone outside his room could hear him, thinking out loud was a requirement when you worked in the sciences, “but it does…and I’m actually jealous.”

Jealously was not something Harrison gave into when faced with another person’s work, but he gives into a moment of it. This device was something he himself would have designed if he’s had the idea. “Well you didn’t,” he reminded himself, “but that doesn’t mean you can’t improve on it. Everything needs improvement even something made by a man like Farnsworth.”

With that cheering thought, Harrison picked up his screwdriver again and started poking in the pile of wires excitement growing as his mind started working. Universes might change, but science will always be there waiting to embrace him.
